Volkswagen recently released a short teaser of its upcoming product in India. Though the short teaser video just revealed the “GT” moniker and the launch date of the model, we expect this upcoming model to be a sportier variant of the Taigun SUV.
This is likely a response to the Hyundai Creta N Line SUV that was launched recently launched in India. If so, we expect the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun GT to be a sportier iteration of the Taigun SUV.
However, this upcoming Volkswagen Taigun GT is likely to be mechanically identical to the standard model. However, the model is expected to feature some cosmetic upgrades on both the exterior and interior.
Starting with the exterior, we expect to see plenty of blacked-out elements to make the Taigun GT look sporty and youthful. We also expect to see splashes of red on the exterior along with a different set of alloy wheels.
On the inside, we expect the same black theme to be executed on the interior as well with some red accents such as GT logos, and red stitching on the black seats. We also expect to see the GT branding on the gear lever, which will be a nice touch.
As mentioned, we do not expect to see mechanical changes made to the GT variant. However, unlike the Creta N Line, which comes with the most powerful engine option from the standard model, we expect Volkswagen to offer the GT trim with both engine options available with the standard Taigun.
If true, the Volkswagen Taigun GT will be available with both the 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engine options. Also, the more powerful Volkswagen Taigun GT with the 1.5 TSI will be a more direct competitor the the Hyundai Creta N Line SUV.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Volkswagen Taigun GT
With the launch of the Volkswagen Taigun GT, we expect the Creta N Line to have a formidable opponent. Also, this will give prospective buyers more options in the market along with the opportunity for Volkswagen to further boost its sales in India.
